Technology today is so advanced you can microchip your bird. However your bird needs to be at least medium conure size in weight in order to be microchipped. Small birds cannot be micro chipped but if you have a medium bird or larger he can be microchipped in case he flys away or is stolen or otherwise lost. Microchips rarely go bad. In dogs and cats it's about a 25 year lifetime but is unknown to birds. The injection is actually suprisingly more upseting to the owner than the bird. A slightly larger needle is injected in the left breast musscle. Another suprise is most birds don't make a sound or struggle or complain when this happens. Usually vet rooms are clean, so infection never occurs.
